Richard White

Richard White is a statistician for Infection Control and Environment Health, Folkehelseinstituttet. He holds a doctorate of Philosophy in Biostatistics from Harvard School of Public Health.

Operational GIS in rural Sierra Leone during the 2014/2015 Ebola outbreak

The presentation will focus on the challenges involved in using GIS to support public health responses to outbreaks in rural areas with extremely limited infrastructure, data, and prior knowledge of the area. Some examples will be given where GIS was used to inform and direct the Ebola outbreak response in the rural district of Kambia.
